Living heart ♥️ centered and in the moment requires your re-connection with your soul and divine source…so I try to start every morning 🌞 with a meditation 🧘♀️ doing this in nature provides an even deeper connection. Even though it was a chilly crisp morning- the experience was blissful and paved the way for a love-filled day!! ♥️ You realize how blessed you truly are and how truly beautiful it is to be alive living on this planet 🌍 and realize there are miracles all around us- we’ve just forgotten to see 👀 them
What is LOVE?…Love is so many things…Love has inspired paintings, music, movies, poems, writings. How can one single emotion transform and create such beauty in this world? Love is a feeling- the most powerful feeling in this vast universe- a frequency a vibration that can lift us to the heavens and we can live “heaven on Earth”.
“Love is the most powerful force in the universe.” – Mariela Stewart
I am not only talking about romantic love, which on its own- is a magical form of love, where you meet your soul’s counterpart and become one in that moment- forever. But the truest form of love is to see others and love others despite their imperfections and to push the envelope a little further, it means to love even our worst enemies- or in Gandhi’s own words- love the meanest of all creations.
How? I know what you may be thinking- how can you love people you hate or place such strong judgments against or have strong negative feelings stir within you, that you cannot find it in your heart to look past those harsh feelings?….Can you not see a spark of the divine, beneath all that?
We are ONE…what does that even mean? We hear this phrase often and yet we may not truly grasp the deeper meaning behind it. Look around you…what do you see? Faces…different in its appearance, shape, color…what beauty! So how can we be ONE when we appear so different?
Without taking away your uniqueness, which we all are!! However, what if you take away your exterior shell…what’s left? The important things if you ask me (but we will get to that)… what’s left?…your mind and soul. Most people would almost always deem the mind most important, even over the soul (an essence which we might not fully grasp or understand its true mystery and yet every culture in the world has spoken and acknowledged its existence). Would Einstein chose his mind over his soul? Hmm…good question…and you would probably bet he would make this choice. The truth is that he would not…he valued the soul over the mind, as we can see in his quote:
“We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality.”
Another of his quotes further supports this idea,
“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.”
Bob Samples an independent scholar, artist, author, and visionary champion of natural and cultural systems in balance wrote in his 1976 book “The Metaphoric Mind: A Celebration of Creative Consciousness” on the importance of the soul over the mind, which talks about Einstein’s own notions and beliefs on the soul:
“Albert Einstein called the intuitive or metaphoric mind a sacred gift. He added that the rational mind was a faithful servant. It is paradoxical that in the context of modern life we have begun to worship the servant and defile the divine.”
So now that we understand Einstein’s standpoint, you may think…so what? Well…as someone who is considered of having one of the greatest minds of all times- wouldn’t you think that he had a point when speaking of the soul vs the mind?
In my own belief, while our mind can be very powerful, it can be a very dangerous weapon…why dangerous you ask? Well..it’s simple, because our mind has deep rooted beliefs and perspectives that are instilled so deeply and strongly that it causes fear to what appears different from what is considered the “me”, “we”, “us”, anything outside of that is seen to the mind as separate from me. And as we know anything not forming a part of “me” is not one with me- and that’s a problem for the mind. It fears what it doesn’t understand.
That’s why the mind is biased when the soul is not. The soul, unlike the mind, does not see these false realities, perspectives, differences. It does not see color, race, religion. It only sees the true essence of a human- it very core- its eternal beingness- its divine soul.
Going back to our friend Einstein…he had the same beliefs regarding the soul.
“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”
His words resonate deep within my own soul…so how do we break free from the prison of the mind…of the self, all that separates ourselves from others, from those we deem different and separate from us, divided from the whole? When we are indeed, in our very essence…the same…we are indeed ONE…we are ONE TRIBE…ONE UNIVERSE.
Our make-up is mere frequency and energy, our outer-shelling is but a mere illusion, our hair color, the color of our eyes, the color of our skin, our bodies, are but a mere illusion of the treasure that lies beneath…our soul.
Einstein yet again said it best:
“We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos. We are souls dressed up in sacred biochemical garments and our bodies are the instruments through which our souls play their music.”
Let us break from this prison, wake up from the ilusión and lift the veil of delusion…open our circle of compassion, open our circles to those different than us and give fraternal love to our brothers and sisters of this world. We are not separate, our countries, religions, races, cultures don’t define us. We are not different…beneath it all…we are ONE…ONE mind…ONE cosmic heart…ONE universal soul….all but ONE.
Next time you feel your not part of others suffering in this political climatic upheaval, remember these words…we are brothers and sisters of the soul…let the soul brotherhood and sisterhood- soul fraternity take force and kindle each and every divine soul in this vast and beautiful world…to become ONE, as we have always been.
Love and light,
A girl cries after crossing Greece’s border into Macedonia near Gevgelija, Macedonia, August 22, 2015. Thousands of migrants stormed across Macedonia’s border on Saturday, overwhelming security forces who threw stun grenades and lashed out with batons in an increasingly futile bid to stem their flow through the Balkans to western Europe. Some had spent days in the open with little or no access to food or water after Macedonia on Thursday declared a state of emergency and sealed its borders to migrants, many of them refugees from war in Syria and other conflicts in the Middle East. In this chaotic and chilling political environment, we as a nation have stepped into as the new President has taken office, leaves a lingering feeling of sadness and powerlessness. As a Mexican-American living in the U.S.- the land of the free and the land of immigrants- I am afraid. I had not experienced this type of fear first hand till this past November 2016, when Trump was elected to the presidency. According to the Southern poverty law center a rise in rascist hate crimes have been recorded and fear has taken the country into its grips. I had read it many times on the news, in our own American history during the civil rights movement. An empath by nature- my heart would cry tears of sadness for my brothers and sisters who endured so much in a very dark and unjust history. Not to mention our Jewish brothers and sisters who endured the largest extermination, one group of people had ever encountered in the past. Our brothers and sisters in the Middle east and Africa suffer on a daily basis and must live in a world of terror, and so many just want their families to be safe and sound and put them out of harm’s way. So many refugees who have been persecuted and terrorized, such as Yaman’s story of survival of how he and his family made it out alive when others were not so lucky.
We must realize- even though we look different- we are more similar than what we think. We all want to live in a loving, accepting and just world- isn’t that land the United States? A land that in its very foundation- laying down its first cornerstone- paved the nation into a democratic land, free from persecution, freedom from religious persecution and freedom of thought and free to be. Not one person in this great nation has more rights than others to be here…this is a country of immigrants, whether your a first, second, third generation American, we are all immigrants…it is a country of dreams, a country of freedom, a country of hope, which seems to shatter as the days progress into this presidency that seems to be filled with a racist, misogynist, xenophobic rhetoric- a rhetoric that eerily mirrors Nazi Germany.
No matter who you voted for, what your politics are, at this point, that doesn’t matter, what matters is that we shift as people, and shift this feeling of hate, into a feeling of LOVE.
Just as Martin Luther King Jr. said not so long ago- his words still resonate in our psyche and memory. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
We must remember these words now…be love rather than hate, be accepting rather than rejecting, be kind rather than mean-spirited, be forgiving rather than punishing, be light rather than darkness, be one rather than dividing. Becuase the sooner we realize we can be one nation, one world living in peace and love, and the only way to do that is by accepting each other as we are, with all out beautiful differences that make this world so diverse and so unique. We are a beautiful rainbow in all its splendor. Let us come together as ONE world tribe to tear down walls and build bridges instead.
