Writer/published author, Actress, Spirit/Intuitive Channel, Ms. Illinois International 2022- Mariela Narváez graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso. Mariela also received her M.S. in Bilingual Speech Language Pathology from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Mariela has certifications in Energy/Spiritual Healing in Reiki, Pranic Healing, Mediumship, Psychology, Parapsychology, Quantum physics, and Spiritual Life Coaching. She has also completed courses in Meditation, Spirituality, Consciousness studies, Transformational psychology and Comparative Religion. Mariela has spoken in numerous conferences at UTEP on feminist, cultural-historical, and other writing/research/activism topics.
Mariela grew up serving her community in Mexico through the Rotary International and partook in many projects such as: building homes, building schools, visiting and supporting local organizations (home for the elder, home of the blind, orphanages, homeless housing, mental/health hospitals, taught English to low SES students’, organized food and supply drives. These experiences taught her the love of serving and giving back to her community. “We all have helping hearts, and we can always make a difference and give back! In giving we receive”. My favorite quote from writer Pedro Salinas is basically my life mission- “Si he podido aliviar la pena de algún corazón, mi vida ha servido para algo.” In English it translates: “If I have been able to heal the wound of a broken heart, my life has served it’s purpose”. Mariela studied the craft of acting in AIA-Actor’s studio in Los Angeles, California. She was able to connect with many wonderful actors and casting directors in the industry. She has been cased in numerous projects such as independent films, commercials, series, voiceovers and music videos. She is currently represented by The Rock Agency in Chicago, IL.
Mariela has three amazing children: Seth, Sienna and Syler- The Trinity- who are the inspiration for her book series “Starseed”. She is also the twin sister of Mariana Narvaez Sports Journalist and host of Acceso Deportivo.
Mariela brings culture, spirituality and gender/feminist perspectives to all her works. She is a lover of art— artist, writer, divine channel, and actress— she continues to express herself in all her creative endeavors. Mariela bridges her experience and knowledge to all her works, weaving unique stories that go beyond space and time that aim for inner-transformation- a journey of the soul.
As the reigning Ms. Illinois International 2022, her platform is suicide prevention. In this capacity, she trains, educates, and guides people before they get to their most vulnerable moment. Mariela will work to identify and eliminate suicide propensities through public speaking, trainings, and appearances.
Mariela shares a unique position regarding the topic. She attempted to take her own life in 2015, and her nephew Alan recently lost his life to suicide. Her mission is to bring those lost souls who are experiencing darkness back home to the light. We can do this together.
When not writing, studying, or meditating, she loves spending time with her family and friends. She loves working out, giving mediumship/spirit readings to friends and family, and sharing messages from spirit in her channeled messages posted daily in her blog posts, as well as sharing her knowledge and success living a ketogenic/carnivore lifestyle.
Mariela is constantly researching and comparing, bringing new contrasts and insights to the human soul experience. She is currently working on the second installment of her young-adult series: Starseed titled “Blood Moon Prophecy”, the screenplay of the first book “The Initiation”, and a metaphysical fictional love story “Déjà Vécu”.
Mariela hopes her stories can touch the hearts of all her readers and kindle their imagination and burst open their soul. Her life mission is to be a role model to inspire others, be a light in the darkness, and to follow their own soul to find their true purpose in life and fulfill their mission on Earth.
