Against the background of the average everyday high school experience, one smart but kinda awkward teen learns to perceive the real world of light and spirit—and dark demonic power—that everyone else misses. Mariela Stewart transports her readers through the twists and turns of Sienna’s hard-won journey of self-discovery, keeping it real with teenage eagerness and suspicion, naiveté and angst. It’s enough that the plot and characters give you a fantastic and satisfying read, but the Star Rise Series will open young minds to an inner world of light and love where great things do happen to you.

“The Initiation Star Rise” opens doors to worlds beyond imagination, where anything is possible. It transports your spirit and lets you wander through diverse dimensions. Mariela Stewart’s writing is like a painting; she blends words together in such a subtle form to create a beautiful masterpiece. She places the reader in the mysticism of a southwest city, El Paso. Describing places so precise that makes one feel as being there. Be prepared to take a journey where your eyes won’t stop reading and your spirit will travel freely, far beyond words…
I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the saga!!!

I really liked the story. I liked the characters except for the teenage angst that ran hot and cold. A bit unrealistic. Also the story was filled with wonderful information about the alternate look at life and history. But it was dispersed unevenly and tended to break up the story flow and was rushed in in huge chunks. Having said all that, this is a good read.
